It Shouldn't Hurt to be a woman

The "Stopping the Violence" counselling program offers free and individual counselling and group support to women who have experienced violence or abuse.  Counselling is provided within a safe, supportive environment  Coming from a feminist perspective, counselling models respectful relationships.  Services are delivered in a manner which respects each woman's individual rights, safety and human dignity, regardless of economic status, gender, age, race cultural or ethnic origins, physical or mental ability or sexual orientation.

Have you or anyone ever experienced any or all of the following?

Physical Abuse

    Pushing, hitting, slapping, choking, or kicking? 

Emotional Abuse

    Ridiculed personal beliefs, race or religion,
      constant put downs, insults directed at
      family or friends, or threats to hurt children
      or pets?       

Psychological Abuse

    A look meant to frighten, scare or bully;
      deprived of food or sleep; reckless driving
      with the person in the vehicle?

Stopping the Violence counselling is intended for any woman who has experienced violence or abuse in her life whether current or past, and from any source whether from family members, partners, acquaintances or strangers.
